Not impressed

If you are a fan and have both Ferguson & Beckham's biographies, there is no need for you to buy this. Most of it is rehashed from both these and other books. I found nothing I didn't know and I am no super-fan who has everything ever written about the two.

One of the best football based relationship biographies I have read in recent years. The author clearly understands his subject profoundly and yet writes in a very accessible style. I believe that even non football fans will enjoy this story of two of the most famous sporting names in Britan. A definite book to put on your wish list!

It is always interesting to read a biography of a very famous relationship, be it a romantic or professional one. In this case the book is about an England captain and his club team 'gaffer'. The fact that this is about David Beckham and Alex Ferguson makes it very exciting indeed. There is a real insight here into how their meetings, bust ups and pep talks affected the goings on both on and off the pitch. The book looks at when they met, Beckham being a mere teenager and then moves through the years and on to much more recent events! The book isnt overly long and keeps you hooked with so many bits of information that you may have missed in the press as well as a whole lot of new stuff. The whole aspect of their working relationship is scrutanised and many questions are asked and answered. I can't recommend the book enough.

I picked this book up whilst browsing through Amazon, and have always been intrigued by the relationship between the two. This is a very well written book, not only is it easy to read - but it is very insightful too. It is obviously written by a very knowledgable football journalist, who knows his subject inside-out. He gives a very unbiased view, and at no time do you feel he is an extension of the Beckham media machine. It is a enjoyable story and highlights the problem a lot of football managers must face in today's game: who is bigger - the club or the player? He follows the story from when Beckham was a 14yr old, right through to him moving to Real Madrid, so it is bang up-to-date. It is a great read and i'd heartily recommend it to anyone at all interested in Beckham or football in general. The flow of the book gives you a great understanding of both these interesting characters.
