As with kids when they are young, Stargazer shows such promise, then when its a wee bit older it kinda goes off the rails for a while. Book 3 is one such instance in the life of Stargazer. The plot is pretty thin, a basic lookalike from the mirror universe jumps over to Stargazer and tries to nick their chief engineer to help in their battle against the alliance, (YES DS9 HAVE DONE THIS TYPE OF STORYLINE GOD KNOWS HOW MANY TIMES). Character development in minimal, the story ending with the usual Stargazer battle which they win just when everything seems hopless. The book comes across and one that was written in a hurry, just to get it out the way because the author is working on something better - i hope its Stargazer book 4,with a lot more effort. Overall an OK read, i use OK in the broadest set of terms. Dont expect to much from it though. Here's to hoping Stargazer can find its way again. PS. Look out for the bit where Picard uses one of his famous phrases for the first time, you'll know it when you read it.

Stargazer novels

These Stargazer novels are about the first captaincy of Jean-Luc Picard. They are all good Star Trek stories and pan out much as the television programmes do. Although it's best to read them in order it is not necessary. In Stargazer Three, Captin Jean-Luc has to deal with an alien beaming aboard who appears a twin sister to members of his crew. Is she from another universe? and what are her real plans? At the same time his weapons officer Vigo is viviting an old freind who has developed a new weapon for Starfleet. Only to have it hijacked by people from his own planet. I enjoy these novels immensly. They are really good fun and they also continue with certain story arcs for the main characters which is always more involving.
