A passionate Book
Rating (4)
Date: 2004-11-19

What comes over most in this book is the passion with which it is written. Clearly the author is passionately concerned with the poverty, and way of life lived in this region of Ghana.
Imogen a professional photographer & artist finds herself unexpectedly on a trip to this region with a development agency.
There she meets more than dedicated Project leader & midwife,Fiona. All characters are well drawn & the reader feels drawn into the whole atmosphere of the changing terraine & landscapes.
In this land of draught, famine & rains; develop a relationship which echoes the seasonal moods of the book.
Such dedication to her job, means that Fiona is generally driven by her work more than love.Nothing can jeopardise her project.
This is a book which need to be read at least twice, as it's full of detail & even romance.

Tender and considerate

This is a slow pace love story between two older women. The best with the book is not their relationship, but the landscape in where it takes place. Fiona, a midwife from UK travelles to Ghana on a three year contract at a project. Imogen is an artist who are asked to get over to Gahana to take photograpes of the project. As a reader you can smell the desert, and imaging the vivid colours that are surrounding you. The project in where the women meets, are full of interesting everyday events. I really liked to read this book. It felt like an old dear friend.
