I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Unlike other assembly books which require 101 props for each assembly, this book has everything you need in one tidy package! There is a brief introduction each time, an interesting and modern-written story which appeals to both Key Stage One and Key Stage Two (although they are aimed more at KS2), hymn suggestion and a short, tasteful prayer. Stories are often historical - and we all know how history work keeps the boys interested and quiet, another bonus for assemblies - keeping the fidgets still and listening.I'm an NQT and before I found this book I was VERY nervous of doing assemblies, now I can pick it up and have the confidence to do an assembly at a minute's notice! There is also a useful 'This day in history' section which older juniors love to hear about, and links to assemblies in the book which tie in with this information. The 80 assemblies are in date order, but they are also listed in theme order and in story type order. It's superb!
