This book is the BEST!
The first half is exactly what is required to pass OCR AS Level Buddhism (when you're taking the Eastern Religions option of A Level Religious Studies). It covers:
- The early life of the Buddha.
- The teachings of the Buddha.
- Buddhist monastic life.
The second half of the book continues on to cover other schools, the sects within them and their teachings and it tells you how the splits to form these schools occured.
I would recommend this book to people wanting to learn about Buddhism and to people who need to learn about it (i.e. students).
It is a simple, uncomplicated guide, which tends to read like a novel, so would be easily read in a weekend if someone needed to assimilate a large knowledge base quickly in this subject.
All I can say is that I wish this author had written me guides to the rest of my subjects!
