This book was recommended to me at University by my lecturer and i have been extremly disappointed. Me and many others who were encouraged to buy this book have found it no help. It makes Grammar even more complicated and the explanations and examples it gives do not help you answer the questions in the work book. It is an expensive grammar book and not worth the money at all.

Making a german grammar text readable is a major challenge in itself. This volume is divided into two sections: grammar and funtional usage. Not only can you study the grammar but you are able to see and learn how it is used and abused in everyday life from introductions, ordering food to attending a funeral. The style is extremely clear, sometimes humourous and always with excellent cross-referencing. None of the dense presentation or detail that often accompany this topic past the beginners level. Highly recommended.
