This is an interesting and broad ranging review of those lives that have been touched by capital punishment be they the executioners, relatives of perpetrators and victims or the politicians who wield the power of public opinion. The book is crafted from an abolitionist point of view but has garnered several opinions from those who have been firm advocates of the Death Penalty in the past. It concludes that whatever opinion you hold of this issue there is no doubt that direct contact with the system leaves one with considerable doubts about its effectiveness and, in nearly all cases, a lasting psychological damage.
