I have to say this book was a return to form for Frank and his writing partner, James Morton.

In Frank's previous memoirs, he mentions places and names which are briefly dealt with for the simple reason his autobiography would have been several volumes long! Mad Frank's Britain takes the reader on a region-by-region tour of historic British crimes and executions, with some of Frank's humour well to the fore. On a number of occasions his asides had me laughing out loud.

Don't expect a Frankie Fraser biography. This is Mad Frank doing what he now does best, telling an interesting story from his perspective and from the experience of being around when many of these incidents took place.

There are also a poignant last few pages where Frank discusses his own mortality, and his now advanced years. Hopefully he'll be around for some time yet to keep signing the books and maybe add another to his list. This book is definitely Frank at his witty and engaging best once again.
