Not all I hoped for!

I had an old edition of this book until it was lifted (by some gas-passing back-stabbing Anaesthetist), I think! The early editions were great- pocket sized cardiac reference works of top quality. I looked forward to my 3rd editon replacement inspite of the price hike, like meeting an old and trusted friend. However, although the new edition follows the old format which is clear and concise, I find there is some unnecessary repetition in some sections, diagrams are too small, often unreadable due to print quality and the font size could be a little larger, as well! New chapters have been added to keep abreast of new developments but the editors have sacrificed what was for me one of the most important sections "ECMO" as they believe the technique is now little used. This is just the reasion why a little practiced technique should have been retained. As a Perfusionist I would only give it 2 stars but the Junior Medic might feel that it would rate a 4. Therefore I give an overall rating of 3 stars.

A valuable resource for both perfusionists,oda's and cardiac anaesthetists alike. A perfect 'dip in' book.
