This book was highly recommened by my uni (hopefuly not just because most of the lectures wrote in it) and its a good book that covers all the basics but often means you need to go away and look further into topics as it is a little simple

A really informative book for the new student nurse - it has helped me out a lot, and I am constantly referring to it. I especially like the way that, at the beginning of each chapter, aims and objectives are clearly set out, and then at the end of the chapter there are test questions (with answers at the back of the book!)to confirm your understanding. It contains lots of case studies and opportunities for reflective learning. And as it has only recently been published, it is really up to date.

I originally found this book in my local library before I went for interview for the dip course. I read it from cover to cover and found that it helped me to think in the right way for interview. I had to buy it eventually coz the library wanted it back. I'm a third year now, and still using the book for every essay and reflection. Very easy to read and follow, written in basic language. I recommend it to every new student that asks for a book list!

This book really helped me appreciate nursing. It was the only book that really addressed the practical issues of nursing for students. Well done and essential for exams.

As the title suggests, this book lays down a broad base of knowlege, covering the physical and psychological sides of nursing care.It is well chaptered and clearly written, supported by both simple illustrations and activities. Each chapter has intros, summaries, tests, generic case-studies as well as useful references and further reading sections. Although not a stand-alone textbook in any one of the topics,Foundations of Nursing Practice is a good supplement to specialised books(Anatomy & Physiology for example). This book proved very useful as a revision aid in the diploma coarse for nursing, especially for Adult branch. As a nursing student,I found this book to be most valuable as so broad a spectrum of subjects are covered in one title.
