I used this book as part of my Economics degree and found in invaluable. Its informative nature was a fundamental part of enabling accurate understanding of the Chinese political history and a valuable background in helping to understand how China operates today. The highlighting of key dates and events enable quick and easy comprehension of the cultural history and the indepth view of those events allows for the understanding of how these events changed China.
As everything is in pinyin translation, it ties in well with other books studying China.
This book is good for both economics based studies of China and cultural based studies.
I couldn't have survived without it!!! :-)
