Amazon.co.uk Review
Are you one of the many millions of individuals who are painfully unconfident and don't know what do about it? Confidence In Just Seven Days promises to provide you with a speedy solution! It has been written as a companion guide to a BBC TV series called Confidence Lab whose aim was to teach practical confidence-building skills to six men and six women during an intensive seven-day workshop. Three different experts, business psychologist Ros Taylor, psychiatrist Dr Sandra Scott and communications coach Roy Leighton spent time monitoring and analysing the behaviour patterns of each of these individuals and then provided them with useful tools and strategies for creating self-confidence. This book contains the techniques they used and more. Written as a seven-day confidence plan with each of the seven chapters covering one day, it can be read through in one sitting, or one chapter per day, or you can dip in and out at random. It's aim is to be comprehensive and cover the following scenarios: making a good first impression, appearing confident even when you are nervous, creating an impact at work, dealing with a difficult situations, improving your body language and changing negative behaviour patterns. It is packed full of simple, straightforward exercises, check lists, goals and helpful, entertaining case studies. Each chapter ends with a progress diary encouraging you to write down what you've learnt and how you intend to use these skills. An excellent, practical book whose strength lies in its sensible, jargon-free advice. --Scarlet Harper

Disappointing psycho babble

Unfortunately this is from the pen of a self conscious tv struck psychiatrist and really not very well thought out at all.

It is all psychometric tests and much akin to reading tarot cards rather than practical advice and case vignettes.

All in all, a waste of money - I bought it 2nd hand.

A very disappointing book

This book was a real waste of money and time. It only seemed to keep telling me what I already know, that I have a problem with a lack of confidence. (like duh thats why I bought the book!) It never really dealt with how to get over your problems. It is all very well pointing out to people where their problems are coming from if they don't already know but it would be nice if the book then told you what to do to combat these feelings...

It changed the way i do things.

I watched the fantastic series Confidence Lab and was inspired to buy the book. I thought the people in the programme changed very quickly and didnt imagine my life could change just from reading a book. I did the questionnaires and really thought about my life realising that confidence isnt god given it CAN be learnt. I've started to meet new peofple, take up new hobbies and I've changed my job. You wont change anything unless you change the way you look at life, and going out and buying this book is a great start. good luck.

Love the way the book takes you through so many of the things that affect confidence - from self awareness, to handling emotion and thinking in a more confident way. I found it brilliantly useful, especially the analyses of the parent, adult and child we all have within.

If you don't feel confident about buying this book then you probably need it. It is possible that it will change your life if you do. A comprehensive book and great accompaniment to the bbc series ConfidenceLab.
