A glance at the contents of this book may lead you to believe you will get a good overall summary of cognitive development. You will not. The book is so brief and vague that it seems the author doesn't have a clear understanding of his topic. Names are dropped, with the work poorly described and then not referenced. The language used is appropriate for the target audience, but sentence structure is appalling. At times needless sentences made me wonder if a word count was being aimed for.
It would have been nice to have a book that gave a clear summary as an introduction to cognitive development. This is a very frustrating read. Even with my mediocre grasp of English, I wanted to reword nearly every paragraph, so the book fulfilled its aims.
An excellent summary of the aguments of genetic epistemology

This is an ideal read for relevant education degrees and post graduate research. It gives a detailed account of Jean piaget's theory of genetic epistemology and the arguments against it. It fully explores the weeknesses and inconsistencies in the theory and research. It contains excellent sections on Vygotsky's theory of collaborative learning and Margaret Donaldson's experiments as well as other important psychological research.
