Fabulous Book!

I have recently purchased this book, and I really like how easy it is to read, and as well, I appreciate how Barbara explains how each posture/position benefits your body. I like her step by step written instructions as well, as her photos for each step.

She writes this book, in my opinion, for all levels, beginner, and experienced. If you are a beginner, it is a great place to start, her style is easy to read and her instructions are clear. If you are an experienced practitioner, this book is a great reference for your yoga library.

She has 10 lessons in this book, starting from the very beginning (upwards stretch - lesson 1 first stretch/posture) and going to more advanced postures (classic headstand - lesson 10). She also has a few exercises listed for facial yoga, toning the neck, scalp exercises, a healthy eating plan and she touches briefly on meditation.

She looks fantastic and she also reminds you to hold in YOUR maximum position, not hers! She encourages you along the way, if you are stiff now, keep practicing, and you will see results, is an idea she communicates frequently through her book.

As I said, it is an easy read, (provided you don't have a two year old climbing on you and putting their head between your face and the book.....) and you could probably read it very easily in a few hours. She also cautions you about what not to do if you are pregnant, have high blood pressure or neck problems. Following her instructions, you have a very low risk of injuring yourself. Remember, today you might only be able to touch your fingers to your knees, but tomorrow, you will be able to touch your shins and then eventually your ankles and then the floor. Be patient, don't push yourself beyond what your level is at that moment. Yoga is not a race, nor is it a competition, it is a quest for personal development. For some people it is spiritual and for others it is exercise. She writes from an exercise/fitness point of view.
