An extremely helpful book for counselors

For treating depressive patients I used the standard works by A. Beck (Cognitive Therapy of Depression) and J. Beck (Cognitive Therapy. Basics and Beyond) until now. Gilbert gives a cognitive frame-work for the treatment, too, but he offers a much wider scope of ideas and approaches including a variety of insights from emotion and evolutionary psychocological research. He also adds some very practical examples from his own practice. I could integrate these ideas directly into my own practice. An extremely helpful book for counseling depressive patients with a wide scope of ideas.
