I was very disappointed with this book. The title alone "The World's Best-Kept Diet Secrets' implies that there is perhaps inspiring new information that seasoned or new dieters will not be aware of. However, I must say I didn't find anything new in this book. Practically all the tips given are fairly bog-standard advice that you will see in most women's magazines or in any other healthy eating book/article. The first 3 chapters contains all the standard information anyone who has been dieting (or eating healthily) will already know about i.e which foods to cut out and which foods to fill up on, why crash diets don't work etc etc; Nothing new or inspiring for me.

The only chapter that I thought contained any new information was the chapter detailing some of the celebrity slimming secrets. However, even some of these I had previoulsy read about in magazines. There were some useful tips on supplements to aid dieting and some menu choices, but this information only covers about 15% of the total content of the book.

If you are a regular dieter or even just a healthy eater, I don't think you will find anything new or inspiring in this book.To me it just seems that all the usual dieting tips have been regurgitated into this book. I personally found no new 'secrets' in this book!

Full of hundreds of useful tips - very motivating!

I had been trying to lose that last stubborn ten pounds for a while and was looking for a book that would kick-start the process and give me some motivation - I found The World's Best-Kept Diet Secrets did just that! I had also read another book by Diane Irons about beauty tips and enjoyed it and so was attracted to her diet book.

It's very easy to read and contains masses of tips - the beauty of the book is that you can just dip in and out of it and choose the ideas that suit you most. It ranges from simple ideas (that would never have occurred to me!) like drinking iced water to reviews of supplements you can take that might help. As well as making suggestions, the author gives her opinion about the so-called wonder solutions that simply don't work. I also really liked the low-cal recipes at the end!

I would certainly recommend the book - it's one of those you come back to again and again. There are loads of diet books around but they tend to be very specialised and if the particular diet doesn't suit you, you can feel you have wasted your money buying the book - the Diet Secrets book is different because of the number of ideas meaning that if one is no good for you, there are lots of others that will be.

This book offers much more than a diet.

I really enjoyed this book. It offers many practical suggestions for healthy eating and weight loss. While it is not a diet, it offers inspiration on many levels. I plan to read it regularly to boost my resolve and renew my commitment to the improvement of my own lifestyle.

At last, a book that has everything I've ever looked for!

I am thrilled! Finally a book that is not one person's story, a new hair-brained idea about combining foods, or having to count everything while exercising 4 hours a day. Diane Irons has done her homework. The stories are compelling, the recipes are delicious, and her book is so complete, that if you need a quick 3 day diet it's there...if you are looking for natural supplements there's a chapter on that. Plus I loved all the psychological tips for getting rid of cravings. Ms. Irons admits that she lost modeling contracts because of an ongoing weight problem. She's been there, done the research, and isn't trying to sell us any gimmicks. Best diet book I've ever read.

When will we have a book by a real woman who used to be fat

I think that the book is good overall, however, I am tired of people whom have never had a weight problem telling us what we have to do to be thin, walk in my shoes, then offer improvement!!
