I bought this book as recommended by my head of department while studying for nursing. This is what is so good about this book, no matter what discipline or field you are in this book can help you to understand how communication works. It deconstructs how we communicate and shows the reader, through simple diagrams and clear text, what happens.
The book doesn't just talk about one type of communication, it is not a one theory fits all kind of book. Instead it shows how different types of communication can be utilised to suit your needs. For anyone who needs to be more aware of how how they communicate I would recommend this book.

"More Than Words" By Dimbleby and Burton gives clear and simple information and examples of mass communication. It is a very good handbook for people studying communications as it clearly sets out information. The book isn't written in textbook jargon and so is really easy to understand. You also don't need to be studying at degree level to be able to understand the book as it seems rhat one of the main aims is to make it a book suitable for eveyone. It is also interesting just to read even if you are not studying the subject. The book contains many different types of process models which clearly show how people communicate on both a one-to-one basis and in the form of mass communication. These models are really easy to understand but one critisism is that they don't show the name of said models, which is always useful information for students. Apart from that minor fault, however, the models are set out clearly and are easily comprehendable."More Than Words" also contains many pictures which explains how we communicate with visual effects as wqell as verbally. This is very good as the information on the subject especially is easy to understand. Over all this book is a great handbook for students of communication studies but also as a general read as it gives enlightenment on many interesting aspects of communication.
