It has some great simple, cheap recipies as well as some strange ones. However its a great book that I still use to this day.

The recipes are so simple, and everything comes out so tasty. If you're just getting out on your own, this is a must-have. Recipes range from easy curries and a delicous and simple Shepherd's Pie to complete menus for entertaining. It provides all the information you will need to make quick, basic, and delicious meals.
