This is an exceptionally well written book which neatly covers all aspects of the sound synthesis realm without relying too heavily on Maths to explain the principles involved. It's an excellent guide for anyone who is studying Sound Synthesis Techniques, (such as FM, AM, Additive, Subtractive etc.), and is especially useful for anyone using MAX/MSP, C-Sound, Super-Colider or any of the other High-Level sound synthesis Languages out there. However, if you are just looking to get the best out of your virtual instruments or looking for a quick guide to Logic/Cubase then this book really isn't for you!

This book is an excellent introduction to computer music. It has been my reference and textbook for a year-long University course on computer music, providing many explanations that were in-depth enough to understand what is going on and how methods work the way they do, yet does not tie the reader down to a specific software or architecture. This is defintely a good read on the subject.
