An excellent book for Lingo intermediated level learner.

It is an excellent book for an intermediated student who knows a bit of OOP concept(3years) and Lingo(2years). It is absolutely not for people who want to start learning Lingo from scratch. An excellent book must have !!!

Second Edition?

This book was supposedly the second edition released in 1999. It does however, still refer to Director 4 and 5. Lingo as changed dramatically since this book was first written, and no account for that has been made. Although was probably a helpful book back in '96, the auther definatly needs to consider the changes in Director before this book can be of any use to anyone

When I purchased this book I thought the lingo could be used in director 7, obviously after reading it I was wrong. Dear O dear!

Sorcery is not an appropriate title!

I purchased this book with the naive expectation that the little Lingo I knew would increase and develop. The name of this book is not becomming to its contents - it starts well and then goes rapidly down hill. It has poor explanations and the working examples do not seem complete - if you want to learn and become successful at Lingo give this book a wide berth!

Excellent for beginners...eh-OK for advanced programmers

I encountered this book by accident after having read what seemed like a million books on Director and Lingo programming. It is by far the most lucidly written text that I've encountered. My only problem with it is that the authors don't do a very good job of explaining OO programming to those who are unfamiliar with it. Aside from a brief section, it's assumed that you're coming to the table with this knowledge. On the other hand, I was able to "wow" some other developers with info that I gleemed from this book. It's a good book to have regardless of your skill set.
