The funniest yet!!

I have always been a great fan of Jacky Fleming's books.

This is the funniest one yet, exploring many of the puzzles and irritations of 21st century life. A middle-aged woman [is that you Jacky?] contemplates the world through newly-prescribed glasses and doesn't like what she sees, whether it be supermarkets or Friends Reunited.

Supported by partner Kenny, and almost upstaged by an ever present, and mostly snoozing, white cat, our cartoon heroine delights us with her wry take on her life [and ours].

Don't read this book while drinking tea or coffee. It'll come down your nose.

Jacky Fleming has taken those private moments that we prefer not to discuss - despair in front of the bathroom mirror, computer induced technophobia, envy at a forgotten friend's apparent success - and joins them up to create a hilarious narrative of words and pictures. All those things that baffle, frustrate and anger us, from global capitalism to mobile phones, are the subject of Jacky's drawings. The humanity of her characters, the witty portraits of domestic life and the charm of the recurring uninvolved cat are combined in a simple story that deals with the stuff of everyday life. This is not another book for Wimmin. It's a book for anyone with enough sensibility to know that modern life isn't all Sex in the City and Man U. It's political without being Political, funny without being stupid and sensitive without being written for wimps. It'll make you laugh. It'll make your sons and daughters laugh. And it might even make that pain in the arse you met through Friends Reunited laugh. Top notch.

Long a popular feminist cartoonist, Fleming has lost none of her insight or humour with this, her quirky take on the frustrations of modern life. Most people will identify with the issues portrayed in the book, (who hasn't suffered from Friends Reunited envy?) and though it may not be laugh out loud funny, it will certainly raise a smile.
