To start off with, don't let the cover picture fool you. The artwork inside is gorgeous, and nothing like the front covers.
The storyline is a lot of fun, but I couldn't help thinking that it reminded me of Tenchi Muyo, Ah My Goddess, Pita Ten, Wish and DearS rolled into one. They all share on basic common factor...cute girl comes to earth from far away, ends up staying with a guy who gradually falls in love with her-despite the fact that she is clueless about life on earth and often makes his hell through a sequence of misunderstandings.
Although it's a tried and tested formula, Faeries' Landing still throws in a few twists. Take the lecherous deer-like creature GoodFellow, for example. He adds fun to the story from the beginning by implicating our protaginist, Ryang, in the a lingerie theft, which eventually leads to the Faerie Fanta staying with our hero because her under garments were torn, and she cannot ascend to Avalon without them!
Ryang doesn't really mind having Fanta (or shorty, as he calls her) around at first-his classmates think he's the luckiest guy in the world!
Then Fanta drops the bombshell that the next 108 romantic relationships he has will end...IN DISASTER!
She also blurts out that it's all her fault, but Ryang seems to be more interested in turning GoodFellow into a venison burger for involving him in the first place!
Despite the similarities to other series, I found myself warming up to Faeries Landing, and I look forward to buying future volumes.
I recommend it highly if you like harem manga with humour-just don't buy it expecting something too original.

A wonderful manga for those who love fantasy!

I really like this manga! It's about a boy called Ryang who bumps into a strange looking man one night whilst he's out on the streets. This man, who is wearing antlers, is being chased by the police, and Ryang helps him get away. As a reward, the man with antlers takes Ryang to a public bath where three faeries are bathing. Ryang accidently tears a winged fairy dress and the fairy in question, Fanta, has to stay behind on earth, unable to return to Avalon (aka. Heaven). Whilst her faerie companions seem rather distressed, Fanta is suspiciously relaxed, leading you to wonder if she planned the whole thing out... From there onwards, Fanta moves in with Ryang and discovers that he is to have 108 evil affinities and the first book deals with the first one and the introduction of Fanta's rival, Medea.
This book has some wonderfully comic moments, and the art is gorgeous, much nicer than the front cover, in my opinion. It is rather sweet and I especially like Fanta, who has a brilliant character with the funny lines where she gets Earth sayings mixed up. The reason for four stars and not five? I debated over it and decided for 4.5 because the story is a little similar to Oh My Goddess (making it perfect for OMG lovers) and the winged robe story line has already appeared in Ceres, although admittedly that is the only similarity between the two. And upon occasion, Tokyopop has used some really tiny fonts so you might have to squint a bit. Recommended for OMG fans and anyone else who enjoys beautiful-fairy-comes-to-stay-with-Earthling storylines.
