Crest of the Stars has one major saving grace. It's not the plot (your average shunned boy meets alien princess girl and together they wind up changing the course of the cosmos scpheel), its not unnecessarily mind-numbing use of non-existant words in the character's speech which requires you to flip to the glossary (yes - this tiny manga book needs a glossary) in the back everytime you read a speech bubble, nor is it the tedious use of not real words to describe various social positions or whatever. It's Toshiro Ono's artwork. Admittedly, I'm a fan of the original Pokemon books he put out several years ago (a briliant read if you can find them) so I already had high hopes when I picked the book up. When it took three tries to understand what was going on in the first five pages I almost gave up but the character designs and expressions done by Ono kept me going and I was rewarded with some neat and exciting character designs which brought the plot onwards far better than the tedious dialogue ever could. Ono has done such a good job all you need to do is ignore the words and delight in the images to follow the story. If you can hack through the dialogue there are some fine moments to be found in this book, but really - you just want it to look at the pretty pictures. Take a glance, if the art is to your liking then its worth a few pounds, if not then go get some Naruto :)
