Grant Morrison delivers a decent sequel to E is for Extinction in the form of imperial. It has good art and the story moves along at a nice enough pace to allow readers to become immersed in the world of the xmen.

Imperial sees the conclusion to the cassandra nova saga while also introducing some new characters and developing old ones. An excellent book and definitely a reccomended read

This volume is a direct continuation of Morrison's first New X-Men compilation, E For Extinction. And if you (like me) thought that was good, this is even better.

Morrison manages to stick to his self-declared aim to bring the X-Men back to the theme of being (mutant) humanitarian aid workers while providing a slick incredibly fast-paced and exciting story that will keep you on tenterhooks and not allow you to put it down until you're finished and screaming for more.

With the New X-Men series Morrison has also simplified the continuity and reduced it back to the classic characters (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Prof X and everyone's favourite Wolverine) and dumped much of the old continuity for those of us who haven't had the good fortune of reading every issue for the past twenty years.

As such this volume and E For Extinction can be read by anyone who has never read the X-Men or who has seen the film and wants to know if the comic really is any good. This story should answer those doubts with a resounding yes.
