I couldn't put it down, gave it to my 7th grade daughter, and she had the same problem :-) Shortly after that, so did a few of her friends with whom she shared the book. The mixture of adventure and fantasy, which is rooted through metaphors in a theme of caring for our world, provides enjoyment, excitement, and contemplation about our own real world. A great selection for parents who want to give their child a book with some real worth, as well as for teachers looking for a book as the basis of literary dicussion and thoughtful issues.
