Ken Browne's book is timely as it comes on the market just as schools and colleges are getting to grips with AS, refreshing as it is so free of jargon and puts things in a way that young students will relate too, and innovative in integrating the activities with the text.

The chapters on Health, the Media and Wealth, Poverty and Welfare are particularly strong.

My students appreciate it, I appreciate it and I know the book will help them reach their full potential.

Ken Browne's 'Introducing Sociology For AS Level' is an ideal starting point for any student studying/wishing to study sociology. The text comprehensively covers all the AS modules including, Family and Households, Mass Media, Health, Wealth Poverty and Welfare, Education, and Sociological Methods. The book also contains an easy to follow, step by step guide for students who wish/will be completing AS sociology coursework, ideal for those who have never conducted a piece of sociological research before, making the book excellent value for money.
'Introducing Sociology For AS Level', explains involved and complex social issues and theoretical considerations in a clear, concise and easy to read manner, relating social issues to examples drawn from everyday life. The book is well organised and the activities throughout are great for students to practice and apply their sociological knowledge. Students can also use this book to evaluate their progress, as each chapter is summarised, highlighting what the students should have gained from each module and listing the key terms used throughout. The book also contains previous exam papers so that students can practice exam questions and test their understanding.
I fully recommend this text, no sociology student should be without it!!!
