If you have not read Colin White's book before, you are in for a treat of immense proportions. The writing is captivating, informative, and accessable. Nelson is presented here as a human being, not the usual demi-god. After reading "1797", pick up Mr. White's "Nelson Encyclopaedia." You will not be disappointed. I eagerly look forward to more from Colin White, and I do hope the wait will not be long.

This is a really excellent book and an absolute must for Nelson buffs and all those interested in naval history. The battle scenes are so vivid that, after I'd finished reading it, I felt I ought to open the window to let the gunsmoke out!

Mr White is clearly a very thorough scholar and he has managed to turn up some really fascinating new material that completely alters our traditional view of both battles. But he also has that rare ability to put all this new material together into a gripping narrative, that reads like a novel!

The illustrations are first class and - joy of joys - there are some clear, well-drawn plans, so that the battles are extremely easy to follow.

This is not just 'another Nelson book'. It is in a class of its own. Get it before it sells out!
