Interesting but disappointing.

This book does have its merits but is generally disappointing. The first thing one should be aware of is that the title and subtitle (Words of the Dragon:Interviews) are very misleading. Input from Bruce Lee is minimal until the last 60 pages; in the previous 100 pages the "Words of the Dragon" probably take up no more than 2 pages in total. The book is not a collection of interviews, it is actually a collection of clippings from various newspapers or the stated years (1958-1973). As a result there is, understandably, a lot of repetition. I found the editor to be annoying and far too critical of the articles (especially as he is making money from THEIR work), his endnotes are often unnecessary and often repeated. For instance, he continually criticises articles for saying, incorrectly, that Bruce did Karate, ok, it is fair enough to point this out once but every time?! He does the same when it is metioned how old Bruce was when he left the US for Hong Kong. Some endnotes even claim that a sentence should not say "x", it should say "y", reading back you find that it does actually say "y". The final 60 pages are by far the most interesting but most Bruce Lee fans are unlikely to find anything they did not already know. Despite my gripe I did like the book and if you are a fan is probably worth buying but it is far from complete.

A brilliant insite into Bruce Lee

What a read! This book should be on the shelf of every Bruce Lee fan. This book is a real joy to read due to the way in which you, the reader, are taken into a different side of Bruce Lee's life and are emmersed in the interviews that took place throughout Bruce's career. You are introduced to his philosophies and beliefes throughout the book which help you, the reader, to build up a better picture of the man behind the legend. This book is one of the range of books in the Bruce Lee Libary (eddited by John Little) and I would like to suggest this as a great reading source for those who want to learn more about Bruce Lee
